The League's formal response to the review of Darley Birth Centre was recently submitted to the Primary Care Trust (PCT). Members travelled to Derby to make the handover and to again talk to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Our response contained a full analysis of the PCT's main review document (or business plan as they term it), plus input from a qualified Statistician, Clinical Psychologist and numerous members of the public.

League of Friends members and our friends from the Corbar campaign attended DCC's Improvement and Scrutiny Committee (People) meeting at the end of last week. There were two hours of discussion but the two major points that the committee is not happy with are:

Please visit us at Matlock Park Head (Crown Square end) to get a questionnaire issued by the Primary Care Trust (PCT), sign the petition or to simply have a chat about the Darley Birth Centre situation.

The first of the two public meetings took place on 7th September 2011 at Darley Dale. The PCT's Medical Director, Dr David Black, made a presentation of the proposed plans and took questions from the audience. Local GP Dr Ben Milton was also present in his role has the Chair of the North Derbyshire GP Consortium.
Many of the factors publicised by the League of Friends were mentioned in the questions and our Secretary, Pam Wildgoose, made a contribution to the discussion.
