The meeting was attended by around 15 PCT Board members. David Sharp (PCT CEO) thanked the campaign groups for their input to the Review and indicated that it had all been carefully considered. Although the board meeting is conducted in public, we were not able to speak at it.

However, Mr Sharp's recommendation to the PCT Board was unchanged and that closure was the right thing given the evidence, lack of support from the GPs and financial constraints. A short discussion on a number of points was made and a last minute email from the Buxton MP was also considered.

In was not quite possible to physically see all the Board Members, but we regret that the vote was either unanimous or nearly unanimous for closure of both birth units. The projected date for closure is 1 July 2012.

Mark Todd (PCT Chairman) was concerned that the time scale to implement alternative ante and post-natal care arrangements was short but Sally Savage, Assistant Director of Commissioning said it was possible.

We hope there will be some coverage on Radio Derby right now (4-7pm) and possibly on the Breakfast Show in the morning.

Once again, thanks to all concerned and we will now consider our next move. The County Council Scrutiny Committee is still not satisfied so there are still points that the PCT need to address.

THANK YOU to all that have helped in any way.
