Darley Birth Centre - closed 2012
Darley Birth Centre provided a midwife led home from home atmosphere for women giving birth.
In 2011 the local Primary Care Trust (PCT) undertook a review of Maternity care at Darley Birth Centre and Corbar in Buxton, the result being that both units closed permanently on 1st July 2012.
We fought the closure plan from the start but were unable to move the PCT in their opinion that the unit was financially unviable and that at least £300,000 would be saved each year.
